What did you do this past week?

This was quite the busy week! In addition to juggling team meetings and finding APIs for project 2, I had coding assignments to work on for two other CS classes and the CS career fair. Luckily, I was able to divide the work with my teammates, who were able to find several APIs, and I was able to help with the structure of the project proposal and the team contract. We now have a plan for our project and it’s quite a relief!

What’s in your way?

I am unfamiliar with the tools required for web development. I’m planning to use this weekend to start learning about and setting up those tools.

What will you do next week?

I will learn how to use the tools necessary and work with my team to finish project 2. I also have a couple exams so I’ll prepare for those as well.

What was your experience of types, object models, and iterators? (this question will vary, week to week)

This was quite the interesting week! I wasn’t expecting there to be so many similarities between Python and languages with explicit typing like c++ and Java. While it stands to reason that there’d be several data structures with different capabilities and specialties, I had believed Python would let the compiler decide which one was necessary based on what you did with the structure. In hindsight, that was an odd assumption to make…

What made you happy this week?

I am relieved that the week is over, and that all the projects and career fairs went rather well. Hopefully next week is less stressful!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

This week, my recommended programming tool is water! It may not seem that useful, but stop drinking it and you’ll see your productivity tank, like I did this week. To make good code, stay hydrated!
